"I’m Making it Official": Peter Okoye Dumps Shared Birthday with Twin Paul, Picks New Date

In what is perhaps the most symbolic sign of the deepening rift between the Okoye twins, Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has announced that he is officially changing his birthday. The singer, who was born on November 18, 1981, alongside his twin brother Paul (Rudeboy), declared that he will no longer celebrate on that day

“I’m making it official. November 18th is no longer my birthday celebration date. Please note that I will not be accepting any messages or gifts on that day,” Peter wrote to his followers. He further specified that his new celebration date will be November 30th, calling it a “personal decision” and asking for the public's understanding.

The duo first disbanded due to intense disputes over management, financial transparency, and allegations of betrayal. Despite a brief, hopeful reconciliation that saw them perform together again, the peace was short-lived as old grievances resurfaced.

In June 2025, the tension reached a breaking point when Peter declared he had completely severed all ties with his brothers, citing marginalization and financial misconduct.

By moving his birthday celebration, Peter appears to be attempting a complete psychological and public decoupling from the P-Square brand and the "twin" identity that defined his early career. While biologically they remain twins, the emotional and professional chasm between Peter and Paul has never seemed wider.

Do you think separating a birth date is a necessary step for finding a solo identity, or is it a symbolic gesture that goes too far? Share your comments below!
