IBEDC Explains Reasons for Persistent Erratic Power Supply

IBEDC, Erratic, Power Supply

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has explained that the persistent erratic electricity supply experienced by many consumers is largely due to reduced power allocation from the national grid and load-shedding across its franchise areas.

According to the company, electricity distribution companies do not generate power themselves but rely on the amount supplied through the national grid. As a result, when the generation available to the grid drops, distribution companies are forced to ration electricity among customers.

IBEDC noted that the reduced allocation makes it difficult to provide steady electricity to all communities, leading to intermittent supply in many areas under its coverage.

The company stressed that the situation is influenced mainly by generation shortages and load management at the national level, rather than issues directly caused by the distribution company.
