“I’m Deeply Sorry, Daddy” — Desmond Elliot Kneels Before Femi Gbajabiamila to Beg for Forgiveness Over APC Primary Dispute

Lagos State House of Assembly member Desmond Elliot was seen kneeling and prostrating before the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.
The emotional reconciliation attempt occurred during a meeting with former Speaker Gbajabiamila and other All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in Lagos. In the footage, Elliot—who represents Surulere Constituency I—offered an unfiltered apology over fallout stemming from the APC primary election in May, where he previously withdrew while alleging political intimidation against his supporters.

“I’m sorry. I have no excuse; I have nothing other than to say I’m deeply sorry. I’m deeply sorry, sir. And in our culture, we prostrate. Don’t be angry, Daddy.”
— Desmond Elliot

The dispute between both figures escalated after Gbajabiamila backed Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, who ultimately secured the APC ticket for the constituency following Elliot's withdrawal. Following the kneeling gesture, Gbajabiamila asked the lawmaker to stand up. Elliot subsequently released a statement reaffirming his loyalty to his political mentor and emphasizing that no political ambition is worth destroying a long-standing relationship.
