“I Cannot Fight for Myself” — Shallipopi Explains Silence on Legal Battle With Ex-Boss Dapper

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Shallipopi, has broken his silence to explain why he stopped publicly addressing his ongoing financial dispute with his former manager and record label boss, Damilola Akinwumi (Dapper).
He revealed that both his legal team and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) explicitly instructed him to step back from public commentary while active investigations are underway. The dispute was raised in mid-August, accusing Dapper Music and Entertainment Limited of withholding royalties from 46 of his released songs.

“My legal team and the EFCC have advised me that, for justice to be served, I need to step back and trust the legal process. Because of this, I cannot fight for myself using my music nor my words. I cannot sing about it, talk about it, or share it on any media platform for now... Everything I have worked for since my teenage years is tied to this. I remain hopeful that justice will prevail.”

While maintaining that he stands firmly by the truth of his original claims against his former management, the artist noted that continuing to air the grievance on social media or in his music could jeopardize the pursuit of justice and the formal investigation by law enforcement agencies.
