Ghana have dismissed head coach Otto Addo just weeks before the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following a string of disappointing performances.

The decision was announced by the Ghana Football Association shortly after the Black Stars suffered a 2–1 defeat to Germany in an international friendly in Stuttgart.

Addo’s dismissal comes with just over 70 days to the World Cup, highlighting growing concerns over the team’s form ahead of the global tournament.

The Black Stars have endured a difficult run, losing four consecutive matches, including a heavy 5–1 defeat to Austria in a previous outing.

In a brief statement, the Ghana Football Association thanked Addo for his contributions and wished him well in his future endeavours, adding that a new technical direction for the team would be announced in due course.

The 50-year-old had been in charge since March 2024 during his second stint with the national team but struggled to deliver consistent results.

Ghana are scheduled to compete in the upcoming World Cup in North America, where they will face England, Croatia and Panama in the group stage.

The abrupt managerial change shows the urgency within the Ghanaian camp as preparations intensify for the tournament.
