Former Ogun State Governor and Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the establishment of a naval base and dockyard in Ode-Omi, Ogun Waterside Local Government Area.
Daniel described the initiative as a strategic move that would strengthen national security and stimulate local economic growth through job creation and infrastructure development.
Speaking during the BATOGD Mid-term Community Assessment and Review Tour in Abigi, Daniel also praised the President for reviving the Olokola Deep Seaport project, which he said would significantly boost the state’s maritime and industrial potential. He assured that the Senate Committee on Navy would ensure adequate funding for the naval base, which will include officers’ accommodation, administrative buildings, a naval school, and a hospital.
Daniel urged residents to support Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, stating that the President’s leadership was restoring Nigeria’s economic stability and progress. He added that Tinubu’s administration had demonstrated genuine commitment to the development of Ogun State and the nation at large.
