Fashola, Young Lawyers

Former Lagos State Governor and ex-Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, has called on Nigeria’s legal community to empower young lawyers to play key roles in shaping the evolving global legal order.

Speaking at the NBA Unity Bar Young Lawyers Forum Summit in Abuja, themed “The Business of a Lawyer: Discovering the Gems Beyond the Courtroom,” Fashola encouraged lawyers to explore new opportunities in sectors such as aviation, e-commerce, technology, and extractive industries.

He emphasised that young lawyers must embrace the business aspect of law, offering advisory, contract, and due diligence services. NBA leaders, including Abuja Branch Chairman Steve Emelieze and YLF Chairman Najib Waziri, echoed Fashola’s remarks, stressing the need for mentorship and innovation in legal practice.

The summit, which drew over 500 participants and featured senior lawyers, lawmakers, and industry experts, explored how lawyers can drive economic growth while maintaining high ethical standards.
