Enzo Fernandez ‘Fully Committed’ to Chelsea Despite Exit Speculation — Rosenior Clarifies Future

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has reaffirmed Enzo Fernandez’s commitment to the club following speculation about the midfielder’s future after their UEFA Champions League exit.
The Argentina international had raised doubts over his stay at Stamford Bridge after Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, which confirmed an 8-2 aggregate loss in the round of 16. Speaking shortly after the match, Fernandez hinted that the remaining Premier League fixtures and FA Cup campaign could be his final appearances for the Blues.
However, Rosenior has moved swiftly to calm concerns, revealing that he held detailed talks with the 25-year-old midfielder. According to the Chelsea boss, Fernandez made it clear he remains happy at the club and is focused on achieving success with the team.
“I had a great conversation with Enzo… he made it really clear how happy he is here, how much he wants to win for the team,” Rosenior said.
The manager further explained that the player’s earlier remarks were taken out of context, attributing the confusion to emotional reactions and translation issues. He insisted that Fernandez is “completely committed” to Chelsea moving forward.
Fernandez, who joined Chelsea for a then British-record fee of £107 million in 2023, still has five years remaining on his contract, reinforcing the club’s long-term plans around him.
Meanwhile, Rosenior also addressed off-field developments, confirming that the club has identified and dealt with the source responsible for leaking team selections ahead of both Champions League fixtures against PSG.
On the injury front, defender Trevoh Chalobah is expected to be sidelined for around six weeks with an ankle issue, although the injury is not as severe as initially feared. Captain Reece James, who missed the PSG clash with a hamstring problem, is also expected to return soon, with the issue described as not serious.
Chelsea now turn their attention to domestic competitions, with Rosenior emphasising the importance of finishing the season strongly amid ongoing scrutiny of the team’s performance.
