Mrs. Deborah Mbara, a makeup artist and cancer survivor, has finally spoken out regarding the controversy involving relationship expert Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO. This revelation follows a formal call from the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) for the arrest of the social media personality, who is accused of altering a medical report to falsely claim she was battling stage 4 breast cancer while soliciting funds from the public.
In a candid video shared on her Instagram page, Mbara explained that she had previously worked as Blessing CEO's makeup artist in Asaba. When news broke that the influencer was reportedly ill and selling off properties to afford treatment, Mbara reached out to offer support and encouragement based on her own survival journey. According to Mbara, Blessing CEO specifically requested a copy of her old diagnostic report from May 2025 under the guise of wanting to compare it with her own doctor's findings. Mbara stated she sent the document in good faith, only to later discover it had been doctored and posted online to validate Blessing's own claims and financial appeals.
The diagnostic center involved, Xinus Medical Diagnostics, has since countered Blessing CEO’s claims, asserting that the original report was indeed issued to Deborah Mbara and not the influencer. Mbara further alleged that despite Blessing CEO’s public claims of not knowing her, the influencer traveled to Asaba recently to plead with Mbara’s family for forgiveness. Her husband reportedly demanded a public apology and a full confession as a condition for peace, a request that has yet to be met. Mbara described the act as "evil," noting that what she intended as an act of empathy was manipulated for a fraudulent agenda.
Do you think the legal system should make an example of individuals who use fake medical crises for financial gain, or is a public apology enough to settle the matter? Share your comments below!
