Burna Boy Challenges Wizkid to Physical Fight as Club Altercation Escalates

The long-standing rivalry between Afrobeats titans Burna Boy and Wizkid has taken an unprecedented and aggressive turn. In a viral video, the "African Giant" openly challenged Wizkid to a physical confrontation, claiming that the "Essence" singer’s only strength lies in social media. The escalating feud follows a chaotic night at "Obi’s House" in Lagos on Monday, April 6, where a physical altercation broke out between Burna Boy and Wizkid’s official disc jockey, DJ Tunez.
The tension began when reports surfaced that DJ Tunez was assaulted for allegedly prioritizing Wizkid’s music over Burna Boy’s during his set. While initial rumors suggested a "10-on-1" attack by Burna Boy’s team, the Grammy winner later went live on Instagram to set the record straight, insisting he acted alone. "It’s a lie, 10 people didn’t touch that guy," Burna Boy stated, claiming he gave the DJ "two slaps" and even waited for hours for reinforcements that never came.
Wizkid broke his silence on Wednesday, April 8, by blasting Burna Boy on X (formerly Twitter), labeling him a "coward" and mockingly calling him "Diddy’s babe," a jab referencing Burna Boy's professional ties to the embattled American mogul. In his response, Burna Boy dismissed Wizkid’s online outrage, stating in Pidgin that while Wizkid has "internet power," his own strength is in "real life." He mocked the singer for tweeting instead of taking direct action to defend his DJ, effectively ending any semblance of the "peace era" previously shared by the two stars.
Amidst the chaos, rumors briefly circulated that the Deejays Association of Nigeria (DJAN) had placed a nationwide ban on Burna Boy’s music. However, the association issued a formal statement dismissing the reports as "false and misleading." DJAN President Prince Akim Edeh clarified that no ban has been enacted, although the body condemned all forms of violence and is monitoring the investigation into the incident. The association also noted that DJ Tunez is not currently a registered member.
