Burna Boy

Grammy-winning Nigerian music superstar, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has set a brand new record on the United States Billboard Hot 100 chart. The singer has officially overtaken his colleague, Tems, to become the African artist with the highest number of entries in the history of the global music chart. Before this latest achievement, both Nigerian singers were previously tied at the top spot with eight entries each.

Burna Boy broke the tie on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, after his new collaboration with international pop star Shakira, titled "Dai Dai," debuted at number 75 on the chart. The official World Cup song gained massive streaming numbers and global momentum after the duo performed it live during the World Cup opening ceremony in Mexico. With this entry, the 34-year-old Afrobeats star has increased his total career entries on the Billboard Hot 100 to nine.

This historic milestone also makes Burna Boy the very first African musician to place at least one song on the competitive Billboard chart for six consecutive years. His chart-topping run began in 2021 with "Loved By You," followed by "Last Last" in 2022, and has continued down to his two latest entries in 2026, which are "Only You" and "Dai Dai." Music lovers and fans worldwide are currently celebrating the self-acclaimed African Giant for pushing local music to the global stage.
