Odumodublvck has caused a major steer online by declaring that hip-hop is dead. The "Declan Rice" crooner made this bold statement on Friday, June 19, 2026, through his official account on X, which was formerly known as Twitter. His controversial comment is coming as a direct reaction to the latest ranking of Nigerian music artists with the highest number of monthly listeners on the Spotify streaming platform.
The music chart showed that no single Nigerian hip-hop artist managed to secure a spot in the current top 10 list, which is heavily dominated by Afrobeats and Afropop stars. According to the data, Burna Boy leads the country with 40.68 million monthly listeners, with Tems following closely behind at 40.64 million listeners. Other musicians who made the cut include Rema, Ayra Starr, Wizkid, Omah Lay, Davido, CKay, and Fireboy DML, while Asake occupied the final tenth position with 8.69 million listeners.
