Authorities of a mosque in Borno State have dismissed reports circulating on social media about a supposed bomb threat at the mosque, describing the claims as false and misleading.
The mosque leadership clarified that the viral messages suggesting a bomb scare were unfounded, urging residents and worshippers not to panic or spread unverified information. They stressed that no explosive device or threat was discovered at the mosque.
The officials also advised members of the public to rely on verified information from credible sources rather than rumours circulating online, warning that misinformation could create unnecessary fear within the community.
They further reassured worshippers that activities at the mosque remain normal and that there is no security breach at the facility.
The clarification followed the circulation of alarming posts on social media claiming that a bomb had been discovered or detonated at the mosque, which the mosque authorities firmly denied.
