Bayern Munich Challenge ‘Unacceptable’ Police Restrictions Ahead of PSG Champions League Tie

Bayern Munich have filed an official complaint to UEFA after French police introduced what the German club described as “unacceptable” security measures ahead of Tuesday night’s Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain.
The Paris police prefecture announced the rules on Monday, requiring all Bayern fan buses to remain outside the city limits until they could be escorted to the Parc des Princes. Supporters travelling to the game were also instructed to use public transport only. In addition, fan buses will not be permitted to leave the Paris region until around 5am on Wednesday, despite the fixture finishing close to 11pm on Tuesday.
Bayern criticised the late notice, stating that all relevant information had been available for weeks. PSG were reported to have supported Bayern’s protest.
The heightened security follows scrutiny of French policing during the 2022 Champions League final in Paris, where crowd control failures caused dangerous congestion and a 37-minute delay. An independent inquiry later found UEFA primarily responsible and warned the situation nearly escalated into a “mass fatality catastrophe”.
Bayern’s appeal places fresh pressure on UEFA and French authorities as major matches in Paris continue to draw safety concerns.
