Bauchi PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jama’are Local Government Area, Bauchi State has expelled Honorable Haruna Muhammad Jungudo, a former House of Representatives candidate, citing his loyalty to Nyesom Wike’s faction of the party. The party said Jungudo was guilty of anti party activities and actions that undermined local structures and decisions. His expulsion reflects deepening fractures within the PDP as rival factions struggle for influence and control ahead of the 2027 elections.

One group backed by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Wike, has been at odds with another led by the newly elected National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki. Both sides have organised parallel meetings, appointed rival executives, and expelled senior members seen as aligned to the opposing camp.

At national conventions in recent weeks, the party’s divisions have played out publicly with each side dismissing the legitimacy of the other. In some cases the factions have issued their own lists of expelled members and tried to assert authority over party assets and administrative functions.

The expulsion of Jungudo is a local example of how nationwide factional battles are affecting party cohesion down to the grassroots level. Many party members and supporters are now watching closely to see whether mediation efforts can bring unity before major election cycles. What do you think should happen next within the PDP to address these divisions and keep the party competitive? Comment below and share your thoughts.
