Authorities have identified Adeniyi Kayode, 47, as the driver involved in the road accident that left heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua injured and resulted in the deaths of Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele. According to official briefings, the identification followed preliminary findings from the ongoing investigation into the crash, which occurred along the Lagos Ibadan Expressway. Joshua survived the incident and received medical attention, while the two other occupants were confirmed dead at the scene.
Security sources said Kayode was taken into custody for questioning as investigators reconstructed events leading up to the collision. Officials confirmed that the victims’ bodies were deposited at a mortuary for autopsy, while statements were obtained from witnesses and first responders who arrived shortly after the crash. Authorities also disclosed that photographs of the suspect were released as part of standard identification and investigative procedures.
Under Nigerian law, dangerous or reckless driving resulting in death can attract severe penalties if proven in court, including long prison terms up to life imprisonment, depending on the charges filed and the outcome of judicial proceedings.
