Anthony Joshua, Dubai, Relocation

Former two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has relocated to Dubai, his uncle Adedamola Joshua has confirmed.

Speaking with PUNCH Sports Extra, Adedamola said the British-Nigerian boxing star had moved to the United Arab Emirates city several months ago, noting that the decision had already been made for some time.

“He has already moved to Dubai… he moved a while ago, talking of months back now,” he said.

However, he added that Joshua’s stay in the city is not permanent, especially given the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, stressing that the boxer’s presence there is “on and off.”

The relocation also surfaced in company filings linked to Joshua’s £150m business empire, where documents for Sparta Promotions Limited and 258 Investments Limited reportedly list the UAE as his country of residence.

Dubai has become a popular destination for wealthy Britons partly due to the absence of income tax, which could affect taxation on dividends and company earnings.

Joshua, 36, who won gold at the 2012 London Olympics, has frequently visited Dubai for training and promotional activities over the years.

His relocation comes months after a road accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in December that claimed the lives of two of his close associates. The boxer sustained minor injuries and has been undergoing rehabilitation, with promoter Eddie Hearn saying he is targeting a return to the ring in July.
