Aisha Yesufu

Popular Nigerian socio-political activist Aisha Yesufu, has opened up on why she turned down an automatic ticket to run for the House of Representatives. According to her, the political offer came from top leadership stakeholders who wanted her to represent her constituency in the National Assembly.

Yesufu explained that she rejected the legislative ticket because she strongly believes that leadership positions should be earned through democratic processes rather than political favoritism or backroom gifting. She noted that accepting an automatic ticket goes against her core principles of fairness, equality, and internal party democracy which she has championed for many years as an activist. The digital influencer stated that political parties must learn to create a level playing ground where all aspirants can contest transparently instead of handpicking individuals. Yesufu, however, maintained that she remains fully committed to fighting for good governance and national accountability outside the confines of a political office gift.
