The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially released the full list of individual awards and tournament statistics following the conclusion of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman emerged as one of the standout figures of the tournament, being named the Best Playmaker for his exceptional creativity and haul of assists throughout the competition.
Lookman’s vision and consistency were pivotal in driving Nigeria’s attack, further solidifying his reputation as one of the continent’s most elite players. Despite the team's overall performance, Lookman's individual brilliance was recognized alongside other African stars who dominated the statistics sheets in Morocco.
The awards also highlighted remarkable defensive and offensive feats:
1. Player of the Tournament (MVP): Brahim Díaz (Morocco)
2. Golden Boot (Top Scorer): Serhou Guirassy (Guinea) – 6 goals
3. Golden Glove (Best Goalkeeper): Yassine Bounou (Morocco)
4. Best Young Player: Lamine Camara (Senegal)
5. Best Playmaker: Ademola Lookman (Nigeria)
6. Coach of the Tournament: Walid Regragui (Morocco)
According to the tournament stats, AFCON 2025 saw a significant increase in goal-per-game averages compared to previous editions, reflecting a more attacking style of play across the board. Morocco, the host nation, dominated the "Team of the Tournament," but Lookman was the sole Nigerian representative in the top individual honors list.
