The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has distributed textbooks, school bags and other educational materials to 8,000 pupils across selected public primary and secondary schools in Lagos State.

The initiative is part of his constituency outreach programme aimed at boosting academic performance, easing the financial burden on parents and improving learning outcomes for students.

Addressing parents, teachers and beneficiaries during the distribution, Gbajabiamila emphasised the importance of quality education and increased access to learning resources. He noted that many families struggle to provide essential school materials, and said the gesture was intended to support students’ educational development and encourage regular school attendance. The programme covered pupils in both urban and underserved communities, with the donated books and supplies tailored to different grade levels.

Officials and community leaders praised the initiative, saying it would enhance literacy and help schools better equip teachers and learners. The distribution event also featured interactions with students, who expressed appreciation for the books and supplies they received.

The outreach forms part of Gbajabiamila’s continued focus on education as a foundation for national growth and empowerment, aligning with broader efforts to invest in youth development and human capital in Nigeria.
