2027 Election: Wike is Just an Appointee, I Have No Business with Him – Aisha Yesufu

Aisha Yesufu

Aisha Yesufu has dismissed the political influence of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, regarding the 2027 senatorial race. She stated that Wike is merely an appointed official who lacks the democratic standing to determine the electoral choices of Abuja residents.

Speaking on her political ambitions under the platform of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Yesufu emphasized that her focus is entirely on the electorate rather than competing with an unelected administrator. She argued that the FCT senatorial seat belongs to the people, and any political calculation centered around the minister misreads the actual dynamics of the territory.

“Wike is an appointee; I have no business with him. He doesn't have a single vote to give. The people of the FCT are the ones who vote, and they are tired of the current status quo,” Yesufu stated confidently.

The co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls movement revealed that her campaign is built on delivering tangible benefits to residents through targeted legislative reforms. Key among her plans is the sponsor of the Abuja Residents Empowerment Bill, which she promises will mandate specific quotas for youth and women-led businesses in government contracts to stimulate local economic growth.

Yesufu expressed confidence that the 2027 elections would mark a shift away from old political structures toward competent, people-oriented representation. With her early entry into the FCT senatorial race, she has vowed to build a robust grassroots movement capable of challenging traditional party dominance in the capital city.

What do you think about Aisha Yesufu’s stance on Nyesom Wike’s influence in Abuja politics? Will her focus on legislative empowerment give her the edge in the 2027 FCT senatorial race? Please drop your comments below!
