Mustapha Lamido Emerges as PDP Gubernatorial Candidate in Jigawa Ahead of 2027

The Jigawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has elected Mustapha Sule Lamido as its official gubernatorial flagbearer for the 2027 governorship election. Mustapha, the son of the former Governor of Jigawa State and veteran PDP chieftain, Alhaji Sule Lamido, clinched the ticket following the party's primary election.
The younger Lamido’s victory signals a move by the main opposition party to re-establish its dominance in the northwestern state. Mustapha, who previously flew the party's gubernatorial flag during the 2023 electoral cycle, secured support from party delegates determined to present a unified front against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In his acceptance speech, Mustapha Lamido expressed deep gratitude to the party delegates and executive members for their trust, promising to bridge developmental gaps and execute a robust campaign.
