Nollywood actor and popular skit maker Kamo State, has put an end to online speculation regarding his relationship with veteran filmmaker Funke Akindele following her notable absence from his debut cinema film premiere.

The controversy erupted after Akindele failed to attend the red-carpet premiere of Kamo’s movie, StarLomo, which took place in Lekki, Lagos, on Sunday, September 20, 2026. Given the duo’s historically close bond and mentorship dynamic, social media users quickly began speculating about a potential fallout between the two creative figures.

Addressing the growing rumors via his social media platforms, Kamo State clarified that Akindele’s absence was strictly due to her being out of the country on travel commitments.

“I woke up to see different opinions online about Iyamii and myself. Please, we're on good terms. She missed my premiere simply because she wasn't in the country and nothing more to it, so please don't assume otherwise... We've spoken about it, and she's going to support this film. I'd appreciate it if our personal relationship isn't speculated on. Let's keep our focus on the film.”
