United States Vice President JD Vance has reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to disarming Hamas and rebuilding Gaza as part of a US-brokered ceasefire plan. During his visit to Israel, Vance met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the next phase of the agreement aimed at ending hostilities, recovering hostages, and restoring stability in the region.
Vance announced the creation of an international security force to oversee peace efforts, though no American troops will enter Gaza. Instead, coordination will take place from a new Civil-Military Centre in Kiryat Gat, Israel.
Despite recent violence, both sides have maintained the truce, with Hamas continuing to return the remains of hostages. Netanyahu thanked former President Donald Trump for his diplomatic efforts and defended the ceasefire deal amid domestic criticism. Vance expressed optimism, describing the plan as crucial to securing long-term peace and advancing the Abraham Accords.
