The Lagos State Police Command has launched an intensive investigation following the discovery of two Nollywood crew members dead inside a parked vehicle at a filming location in Lekki. The deceased, identified as renowned lighting director Ekemini “GeeTee” Imeh and his colleague, Ayodeji Walter Odediran (also known as Director Carrington), were found lifeless on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
The incident occurred on the premises of Evercare Hospital, which was being used as a set for a production reportedly directed by former Big Brother Naija housemate Boma Akpore. According to police sources, the two men had arrived early to install lighting equipment and later retired to a tinted Nissan vehicle to rest with the air conditioning running. While they appeared fine when breakfast was delivered to them around 11:00 AM, they were discovered unresponsive eight hours later after production wrapped.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at Panti, Yaba. Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage and awaiting the results of autopsy and toxicology tests to determine if the cause was carbon monoxide poisoning from the vehicle, food contamination, or environmental factors such as fumes from nearby industrial generators.
As the CEO of a top lighting company, he was a heavyweight in Nollywood, credited for his work on the hit film King of Boys and high-budget music videos for stars like Davido.
With the recurring cases of sudden deaths on sets and in studios, do you think Nollywood needs stricter safety regulations for crew members during long shoots? Share your comments below!
