Turkey Seeks Muslim Unity Over Fragile Gaza Truce

Turkey, Muslim Unity, Gaza

Turkey is set to host top diplomats from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Jordan, Pakistan, and Indonesia in Istanbul to discuss the future of Gaza amid growing fears that the October 10 ceasefire between Israel and Hamas may collapse.

The truce, brokered by US President Donald Trump, has come under strain following renewed Israeli strikes and Palestinian resistance. Turkey’s Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, said the meeting aims to rally Muslim nations behind a plan for Palestinians to take control of Gaza’s security and governance.

Ahead of the summit, Fidan met a Hamas delegation led by Khalil al-Hayya, reiterating Ankara’s support for a two-state solution and calling for an end to the “massacre in Gaza.” He also urged Israel to allow greater humanitarian aid access.

Despite Turkey’s regional influence, Israel has resisted its involvement in post-war peacekeeping efforts, citing Ankara’s close ties with Hamas.
