Trump, Meeting, Qatar Leaders

US President Donald Trump is set to meet Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani during a refuelling stop at Al Udeid Air Base on his way to Asia, White House officials have confirmed.

The previously unannounced meeting, scheduled for Saturday, will also include US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who recently returned from Israel amid Washington’s diplomatic efforts to uphold the fragile Gaza peace deal.

Qatar has been instrumental in mediating indirect talks between Israel and Hamas, alongside Egypt, Turkey, and the United States, serving as one of the guarantors of the ongoing truce.

During his stopover, Trump is expected to discuss next steps in stabilising Gaza, regional security cooperation, and Qatar’s continued role in peace negotiations.

The US president will then proceed to Asia for regional summits, including a face-to-face meeting with China’s Xi Jinping and other world leaders.
