The 31st Critics Choice Awards took place on January 4, 2026, at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. It was a huge night for Timothée Chalamet, who won the Best Actor award for his role in the movie Marty Supreme. Chalamet beat other top stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Michael B. Jordan to take the trophy home. During his speech, he surprised fans by giving a special shout-out to his partner, Kylie Jenner. He thanked her for supporting him over the last three years and helping him stay focused on his career.
While the movie One Battle After Another won Best Picture and Best Director, the film Sinners was the biggest winner in many other categories. Directed by Ryan Coogler, this vampire movie entered the night with 17 nominations and walked away with several major honors. It won the Best Casting and Ensemble award and the Best Original Screenplay prize. The movie also won Best Score for its music and Best Young Actor for Miles Caton. These wins show that Sinners was one of the most respected movies of the year by critics.
Netflix’s Frankenstein also had a successful night, winning four different awards. Jacob Elordi won Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film, while the movie also swept the technical categories. It won for Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, and Best Hair and Makeup. Other big winners in the film section included Jessie Buckley, who was named Best Actress for Hamnet, and Amy Madigan, who won Best Supporting Actress for Weapons. The racing movie F1 also did well, winning awards for its high-quality sound and editing.
In the world of television, the medical show The Pitt and the crime series Adolescence were the top champions. The Pitt won Best Drama Series, and its lead star Noah Wyle won Best Actor. On the comedy side, The Studio was named Best Comedy Series, with Seth Rogen and Jean Smart winning the top acting prizes for their shows. The series Adolescence also had a great night, winning Best Limited Series and three acting awards for its cast members. These awards give us a clear idea of who might win big at the Oscars later this year.
