Social media influencer and entrepreneur Tacha Akide is moving forward with her ambitious Guinness World Record attempt for the most cosmetic makeovers by a single artist in 24 hours, even as power outages threaten the event’s smooth progression. The attempt is the centrepiece of the inaugural Tacha Beauty Festival, a three-day celebration spotlighting Nigeria’s beauty and lifestyle industry, held from October 10–12, 2025, at the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture & History in Lagos.
During the festival, attendees and beauty professionals have been part of a lineup of events, including workshops, masterclasses, exhibitions, and vendor showcases. The Guinness attempt forms the focal event on the second day, where Tacha aims to complete 150 full makeovers, surpassing the current record of 111, held by Mary Yongai of Sierra Leone. Despite fluctuating power supply during the session, the show went on, with auxiliary power sources ensuring continuity of the makeover process.
The festival itself goes beyond a record attempt, featuring training sessions on makeup, hair, skincare, wellness, and fashion, alongside business networking and vendor exhibitions. The Lagos State government has expressed its support for the initiative, describing it as a demonstration of Nigerian creativity and entrepreneurship. Over the course of three days, hundreds of beauty professionals, influencers, and enthusiasts are expected to attend, all while documenting the continuous makeover attempt for Guinness verification.
If successful, the feat will place Nigeria and Africa at the forefront of the global beauty industry, demonstrating endurance, creativity, and skill. Comment below to share your thoughts on Tacha’s historic attempt and whether she will set a new world record.
