“She Left Us in the Dark” — Chadwick Boseman’s Brothers File Petition to Remove Widow Taylor Simone Ledward as Estate Administrator

Nearly six years after the tragic passing of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, a legal feud has erupted within his family over his multi-million-dollar financial legacy. The late actor's brothers, Derrick and Kevin Boseman—acting on behalf of their elderly parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman—filed a petition in a Los Angeles court seeking to immediately strip Boseman’s widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, of her position as sole administrator of his estate.
Boseman died of colon cancer in August 2020 at age 43 without leaving a valid will, prompting a 2022 court ruling that split his assets equally between his widow (50%) and his parents (25% each). However, the new legal filing accuses Ledward of exercising unilateral control over the multi-million-dollar estate, withholding crucial financial records, and failing to execute the mandated distribution of assets nearly four years after the court order.
"Nearly four years later, Respondent has still not distributed the estate, nor has she filed a petition for discharge with receipts as required... instead, Respondent continues to exert unilateral control over Decedent's estate, denying Decedent's family long overdue closure."

The petition alleges that Ledward has failed to distribute over $3 million sitting in bank accounts, unaccounted SAG-AFTRA film residuals, royalties, and a $40,000 long-term care insurance policy designated for Boseman’s mother.
The brothers claim Ledward assumed complete control of Chadwick Boseman, Inc., making unilateral business decisions regarding the actor's image, likeness, and intellectual property without consulting or including his family.
The family is asking the court to hold Ledward in contempt, compel a full financial accounting within 30 days, and permanently replace her with independent fiduciary and forensic accountant Jason Rubin.
