Kaduna, Central Senate Race, NIWRMC Boss

The Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Resources Management Company, Dr. Abdulmumini Aminu Zaria, has withdrawn from the Kaduna Central senatorial race ahead of the 2027 elections.

Zaria said his decision was driven by the need to focus on national service and support the administration of President Bola Tinubu as well as the leadership of Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.

In a statement, he explained that although he had nursed the ambition for about three years, he chose to step down to concentrate on his current responsibilities, describing the move as a sacrifice in the interest of national duty.

He emphasised that ongoing reforms under the current administration require full commitment from public officials, adding that his role demands undivided attention to ensure effective service delivery.

Zaria also reaffirmed his loyalty to the Kaduna State governor, praising his efforts to transform the state and pledging support for his “SUSTAIN” agenda.

While acknowledging the expectations of his supporters, he urged them to remain committed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and continue supporting the government’s programmes.

His withdrawal is expected to pave the way for Shehu Sani to emerge as the consensus candidate for Kaduna Central, a development observers say could strengthen party unity ahead of the elections.
