The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) has donated medical equipment worth ₦90 million to the Gombe State Government to strengthen healthcare delivery across the state.
The items, comprising consumables and non-consumables, were presented to the Deputy Governor, Dr Manassah Jatau, by the NEDC State Coordinator, Architect Mohammed, following a needs assessment that highlighted gaps in medical infrastructure.
Mohammed said the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s agenda for improved healthcare and aims to support the state’s ongoing commitment to quality medical services. He urged officials to ensure that the donated items benefit the intended communities.
In response, Dr Jatau expressed appreciation to the NEDC for complementing the state’s health initiatives, reaffirming the government’s target of providing two fully functional primary healthcare centres in each of Gombe’s 114 wards.
He also commended the Commission’s continued partnership, describing the donation as a vital boost to the state’s award-winning health system.
