NDLEA, Drugs in Parcels, Fresh Travel Advisory

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has uncovered illicit drugs concealed in parcels, reinforcing concerns over the growing trend of traffickers using unsuspecting individuals to transport illegal substances.

In a video released by the agency, operatives were seen intercepting the drugs hidden within packaged items, highlighting the increasingly sophisticated methods employed by traffickers to evade detection.

Following the discovery, the NDLEA issued a strong warning to travellers, urging them to avoid carrying parcels or luggage on behalf of others without knowing the contents.

The agency stressed that many individuals have unknowingly found themselves entangled in drug trafficking offences after agreeing to transport items for third parties.

NDLEA emphasised that traffickers often disguise illicit substances in everyday items or equipment, making it difficult to detect without proper checks.

It further advised travellers to remain vigilant and take full responsibility for their belongings, noting that ignorance of the contents of a parcel does not exempt anyone from legal consequences.

The agency reiterated its commitment to intensifying surveillance and enforcement operations across the country to curb drug trafficking and safeguard public safety.
