A 41-year-old man, Kelvin Evans, has been sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing hard drives containing unreleased music from global superstar Beyoncé. The incident occurred in July 2025 in Atlanta, just days before the singer was set to perform four sold-out shows at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium as part of her "Cowboy Carter" tour. Evans entered his plea on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in a Fulton County Superior Court, narrowly avoiding a jury trial that was scheduled to begin the same day.

According to prosecutors, Evans broke into a rented Jeep Wagoneer used by Beyoncé’s choreographer, Christopher Grant, and backup dancer, Diandre Blue. The theft took place at a parking garage on Krog Street while the team members were away getting food. Surveillance footage captured Evans driving a red Hyundai Elantra, parking next to the rental vehicle, and removing black suitcases. Inside those bags were high-end laptops and hard drives containing not only unreleased tracks but also top-secret tour footage, plans, and setlists.

While Evans was sentenced to five years total—with two years behind bars and three on probation—the stolen hard drives and music files have unfortunately never been recovered. During the hearing, it was revealed that Evans has a long history of similar crimes, with more than a dozen arrests for breaking into cars over the last 20 years. Prosecutors even noted that in an interview after his arrest, he bragged about himself as the "King Thief of Atlanta." Now, he has been ordered to stay away from the victims and the scene of the crime as he begins his jail term.
