London Mayor Praises Nigerian “Bus Aunty” Following Her Big TikTok Win

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has publicly congratulated Nigerian content creator Bemi Orojuogun, better known as London Bus Aunty, after she won the Video of the Year award at the TikTok UK Awards.
In a post on X, Khan wrote:
“Congratulations to London’s very own Bus Aunty for winning Video of the Year at the TikTok Awards. Her love of our iconic red buses has captured hearts across the country.”
He also added a fun fact:
“Did you know? She’s a proud fan of the Bakerloop – London’s newest express bus route.” )
Orojuogun, 56, earned massive recognition for her minimalist and joyful TikTok videos that simply show her standing with her phone as red double-decker buses glide past. Her clip that won the award has reportedly amassed nearly 50 million views.
In her acceptance speech, she thanked her followers, her team, and TikTok itself, saying:
“If you love it, do it.”
