The Nigerian creative community and global film industry have been thrown into deep mourning following the passing of legendary Nollywood actor Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, universally known as Olu Jacobs, at the age of 84.
The veteran actor passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, surrounded by loved ones at his residence. His family confirmed his death shortly after, concluding his courageous battle with Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB)—a neurodegenerative condition that had kept the celebrated screen icon out of the public eye in recent years.
