“I Feel Irritated” — Aisha Yesufu Criticizes Media Scrutiny of Peter Obi on Channels TV

Aisha Yesufu has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the line of questioning directed at Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi during his recent interview on Channels Television. Speaking via a video shared on her social media handles, the activist voiced frustration over what she described as repetitive and biased interrogation by broadcast journalist Seun Okinbaloye, arguing that the media subjects Obi to intense scrutiny while giving other prominent political figures a pass. Yesufu contended that asking the former Anambra State governor the same questions repeatedly fails to push the national political conversation forward and instead shields incumbent leaders from accountability.

She further faulted the media for failing to subject President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to similar rigorous live interviews, pointing out that public scrutiny appears unbalanced when opposition figures face constant grilling while government officials avoid direct, unscripted questioning. Additionally, Yesufu addressed recent controversies surrounding Obi’s past comments regarding "Muslim commissioners," clarifying that the candidate was referring specifically to Commissioners of Police rather than state cabinet members, and urged Nigerians to focus on genuine national issues rather than political misinterpretations.
