Nollywood actress, producer and filmmaker Funke Akindele has expressed deep gratitude to her fans after her latest film Behind the Scenes achieved remarkable box office success in both Nigeria and the United Kingdom. The movie, released on December 12, 2025, crossed N200 million in Nigerian cinemas during its opening weekend and also grossed £42,000 in the UK and Ireland as it debuted in select Odeon Cinemas. This performance made it the biggest opening weekend for a Nollywood film in 2025, drawing positive reviews and enthusiastic audience turnout.

In heartfelt social media messages, Akindele thanked cinema-goers in Nigeria for their overwhelming support, celebrating the record-breaking crowd turnout and strong earnings. She wrote that fans showed up and helped Behind the Scenes become a standout title of the year, calling the engagement a “huge success” and a testament to Nigerian movie-goers’ love for homegrown film. She also extended appreciation to her United Kingdom and Ireland fans, noting their contribution to making it the “biggest Nollywood opening weekend ever” in those markets.

Behind the Scenes, which premiered abroad before its domestic release, has continued to draw attention for its compelling story, strong cast and production quality. FilmOne Entertainment, the movie’s distributor, highlighted the achievement as a major milestone for Nollywood’s reach in international markets. The success further cements Akindele’s reputation as one of the industry’s leading box office draws and strengthens the global presence of Nigerian cinema.
