Veteran Nollywood actress turned evangelist, Eucharia Anunobi, has initiated legal proceedings against Pastor Psalm Okpe, the founder of Fresh Oil Ministry International Church, following a leaked audio scandal. The recording, which has gone viral, features Okpe and another cleric allegedly making explicit claims about past sexual involvements with Anunobi and other religious figures.

In the audio, Okpe—who notably ordained Anunobi into ministry years ago—claimed to have been in a romantic relationship with her for over five years. The recording also included unverified allegations of homosexuality against another male pastor, sparking a massive outcry within the Christian community.

Reacting to the scandal on Instagram, a visibly distraught Anunobi described Okpe as a "monumental global shame." She categorically denied the claims, asserting that she has remained celibate since her ordination nearly 14 years ago.

“I want to state here categorically that in almost 14 years since I have been midwifed into ministry, I have been celibate and have been keeping myself for the man that will be deserving of my new virginity,” she declared.

While she admitted to having been in courtships and engagements during that period, she challenged any man to come forward with proof of "penile penetration," insisting that her life of purity is why she "boldly preaches righteousness."

Anunobi revealed that she has instructed her lawyers to petition the Nigerian Police Force, as well as security and immigration authorities in the United States, accusing Okpe of defamation and long-term threats to her ministry. Although Okpe has since issued an apology for his "vulgar words," Anunobi insisted the matter will not be swept under the carpet and that he must substantiate his claims in court.

What is your take on this scandal involving high-profile clerics? Does an apology suffice for such heavy allegations, or is a court case the only way out? Let us know in the comments!
