End of an Era: Business Titan Otunba Adekunle Ojora Passes Away at 93

Nigeria has lost one of its most illustrious corporate giants as billionaire businessman and veteran industrialist, Otunba Adekunle Ojora, has been confirmed dead. The legendary business mogul passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the age of 93.
Throughout his long and distinguished career, Otunba Ojora served as the Chairman of AGIP Nigeria Limited and was a pivotal figure in the success of companies like NCR Nigeria, Seven-Up Bottling Company, and many others. His influence extended beyond the shores of Nigeria, earning him international accolades and high-level honors, including being a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) and holding the prestigious title of Commander of the Italian Republic.
Beyond the boardroom, he was a revered traditional leader, holding the title of Otunba of Lagos. He was also the father of Toyin Saraki, the wife of former Senate President Bukola Saraki.
Tributes have already begun pouring in from the presidency, state governors, and the organized private sector, all mourning the departure of a man described as a "bridge-builder" and a "founding father of modern Nigerian industry." His death marks the closing of a significant chapter in the history of Nigerian indigenous business.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in the coming days.
