Elumelu Family Donates Food Items to Orphanages in Lagos, Edo, Delta

The Elumelu family has distributed food items to several orphanages across Lagos, Edo and Delta States as part of its ongoing philanthropic initiatives to support vulnerable children and communities. The gesture was coordinated through the Tony Elumelu Foundation, which said the donation is aimed at providing immediate relief to children who rely on institutional care, especially during festive periods and times of economic hardship. The items handed over include staples such as rice, beans, garri, canned goods, and other essential supplies to sustain daily meals for the beneficiaries.
Representatives of the foundation and members of the Elumelu family personally visited the orphanages to oversee the handover and interact with the children and care staff. In Lagos, the donation reached Sunbeam Home for the Needy and Little Saints Orphanage, while in Edo and Delta, similar consignments were delivered to institutions that cater to children without parental care. Foundation officials said the intervention is part of a broader commitment to youth empowerment and community upliftment, reflecting the family’s long-standing support for education, healthcare and social welfare programmes.
Leaders of the orphanages expressed sincere gratitude to the Elumelu family and the foundation for their timely contributions, emphasising that the donated food items will help ease operational challenges and improve the well-being of the children. They noted that institutional care homes often struggle with limited resources and depend heavily on donor support to provide basic needs. The foundation’s involvement, they said, brings much-needed relief and encouragement to caregivers and residents alike.
