Ekiti 2026: INEC Begins Distribution of PVCs Ahead of Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially commenced the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Ekiti State ahead of the upcoming governorship election.
According to a statement from the commission, the collection exercise kicked off on Monday, June 1, 2026. To ensure a smooth rollout, the distribution is scheduled in two distinct phases:
- Ward-Level Collection: From June 1 to June 14, 2026, registered voters can collect their cards at designated registration areas and wards across all 16 local government areas.
- LGA Office Collection: From June 15 to June 21, 2026, the exercise will move to INEC Local Government Area offices.
The collection centers will remain open daily, including weekends, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Eligible voters are required to bring their temporary voter cards or a valid means of identification for verification.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ekiti State, Bunmi Omoseyindemi, assured residents that structural measures have been put in place to guarantee a seamless and transparent process. He also called on traditional rulers, community leaders, civil society organizations, and the media to actively mobilize citizens—particularly women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs)—to collect their cards before the deadline.
INEC explicitly reiterated that the PVC remains the sole document acceptable for accreditation, warning that no citizen will be allowed to vote without a valid card on election day.
