Datti Baba-Ahmed: "I Followed Peter Obi Out of Sympathy"

Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the former vice-presidential candidate for the Labour Party, recently shared that his decision to run alongside Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election was heavily influenced by sympathy.
Speaking in an interview with Symfoni, Baba-Ahmed explained that in 2022, Obi had approached three major, prominent politicians to align with him for the presidential bid, but all three declined the offer. Disappointed by how the former Anambra State governor was avoided by these individuals, Baba-Ahmed felt compelled to step in and support the movement for the sake of the country. He declined to name the specific politicians or state the reasons behind their refusal.
Addressing current political speculation, Baba-Ahmed also clarified that he remains politically independent and is not automatically bound to follow Obi to any new political platform, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
"They thought I would follow Peter Obi to ADC, but I had given enough sympathy then. Obi does not own me. I own my independence."
What are your thoughts on Datti Baba-Ahmed's remarks about his political independence and how the 2023 ticket came together? Let me know in the comments below!
