Nollywood actor and veteran lawmaker, Desmond Olushola Elliot, has officially declared his intention to run for a fourth consecutive term in the Lagos State House of Assembly. On Monday, May 4, 2026, Elliot picked up his expression of interest and nomination forms under the All Progressives Congress (APC) to represent Surulere Constituency I.
During the event, Elliot addressed the crowd, emphasizing that his deep connection to Surulere and his legislative seniority would allow him to attract more development to the area. He highlighted that his time in the House has seen significant improvements in local infrastructure, including road projects and improved drainage systems within the constituency. He argued that at this stage of his political career, he possesses the necessary maturity and network to ensure that Surulere remains a priority in the state’s executive planning and resource allocation.
As the political season heats up in Lagos, Elliot’s campaign is expected to focus on "continuity and legislative excellence." For now, the Surulere representative appears resolute in his mission to extend his legislative tenure, promising to build on his existing legacy if given the mandate for a fourth term.
Do you believe that veteran lawmakers like Desmond Elliot should step aside for younger representatives, or does his legislative experience offer more value to Surulere? Share your comments below!
