Afrobeats star Davido has announced that he is withdrawing the custody case involving his daughter, Imade Adeleke, bringing an end to a legal dispute with her mother, Sophia Momodu.

In a statement posted on X, the singer clarified that his legal request was for joint custody rather than full custody, stressing that the situation did not produce a winner. He wrote that the only person affected by the conflict was his daughter, questioning why anyone would celebrate the outcome.

Davido said the courtroom exchanges became deeply personal, influencing his decision to discontinue the case. According to his statement, he considered references made during proceedings to be distressing, particularly when his late son was mentioned. He described that moment as crossing a boundary and stated it contributed directly to his withdrawal. The singer maintained that his intention throughout the process was to remain involved in his daughter’s upbringing while preserving her wellbeing.

In a follow up Instagram story, Davido criticized the conduct of the opposing counsel, claiming the legal exchanges escalated unnecessarily. He wrote that he felt compelled to respond strongly during the hearing and expressed hope that others would never experience similar personal loss.

By ending the case, the artist signaled a desire to move forward and reduce conflict, emphasizing that his daughter would understand he sought to protect her interests.
