FC Barcelona secured their 16th Spanish Super Cup title on Sunday, January 11, 2026, defeating arch-rivals Real Madrid 3-2 in a high-stakes final at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The match was defined by a frantic end to the first half and a decisive second-half strike from Raphinha, who emerged as the hero for Hansi Flick’s side. The victory marks Barcelona's second consecutive Supercopa triumph and their first piece of silverware for the 2025–2026 season.
The game exploded into life just before the break with four goals scored in rapid succession. Raphinha opened the scoring in the 36th minute with a precise low strike, but Vinícius Júnior equalized for Real Madrid with a sensational solo run in stoppage time. Just moments later, Robert Lewandowski restored Barcelona’s lead with a delicate chip, only for Madrid to strike back again through Gonzalo García, who poked home a rebound to send the teams into the locker rooms level at 2-2.
The second half was a tactical battle, but the deadlock was finally broken in the 73rd minute when Raphinha’s strike took a significant deflection off Madrid defender Raúl Asencio, looping over Thibaut Courtois for the winner. Raphinha finished the tournament with four goals, joining Aritz Aduriz as one of only two players to ever score four times in a single Supercopa edition. Despite a late red card for Frenkie de Jong, Barcelona’s defense held firm against late Madrid pressure to secure the record-extending trophy.
