Bala Mohammed Reaffirms Commitment to PDP Amid Defection Rumors

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by its Board of Trustees, has moved to dispel rumors regarding the potential exit of Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed.
According to the party leadership, Governor Mohammed remains a "pillar of the PDP" and is fully committed to the ongoing internal efforts to reposition and strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. The leadership urged party members and the general public to disregard "sponsored narratives" aimed at creating division within the opposition. They emphasized that the Governor is focused on delivering his mandate in Bauchi and working with other stakeholders to ensure a united front in the next election cycle.
In a separate but related political development, veteran journalist and PDP chieftain Dele Momodu has made a bold prediction regarding the 2027 presidency. Momodu asserted that the next election will mark the "end" of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, citing a growing national desire for an alternative direction. He pointed toward a potential "combined ticket" involving the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other opposition forces as the vehicle that could successfully challenge the current government.
Momodu argued that the economic challenges facing the country and the realignment of political heavyweights would create a "perfect storm" for the incumbent. He suggested that a strategic alliance, potentially centered around a coalition of younger, reform-minded leaders, would provide the momentum needed to "sack" the current administration. As the political temperature rises, Momodu’s comments reflect a growing sentiment among opposition figures that a unified "third force" may be the only viable path to power in the coming years.
Do you believe Governor Bala Mohammed’s reassurance is enough to stabilize the PDP, or do you think Dele Momodu’s vision of a massive opposition coalition is the only way to challenge the ruling party in 2027? Share your comments below!
