Atiku, Presidential Bid, 2027 Elections, Final Attempt

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has revealed that the 2027 presidential election will likely be his last attempt to become Nigeria’s president.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, Atiku said his decision is largely influenced by age and the high stakes surrounding the upcoming election. He noted that by 2027, he would be approaching 80, making the race potentially his final outing.

“Certainly yes… I believe that will be my last outing,” he stated when asked about his future ambitions.

The former vice president has made multiple bids for Nigeria’s top office over the years, contesting presidential elections in 1993, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023.

In the 2023 election, he ran under the Peoples Democratic Party but lost to incumbent President Bola Tinubu.

Atiku’s latest declaration comes amid early political alignments and coalition talks ahead of the 2027 general election, with opposition figures seeking strategies to challenge the ruling party.
