The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially released its timetable and schedule of activities for the upcoming primary elections ahead of the 2027 general polls. The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) outlined the deadlines for the purchase and submission of expression of interest and nomination forms, signaling the start of its internal democratic process.
A major highlight of the announcement is the cost of the nomination forms, with the presidential ticket pegged at N75 million. According to the party, the expression of interest form will cost N15 million, while the nomination form is set at N60 million. For those eyeing governorship seats, the total package is fixed at N30 million. In an effort to encourage inclusivity, APGA announced that female aspirants and persons with disabilities (PWDs) would receive a 50% discount on the nomination fees, though they are still required to pay the full price for the expression of interest forms.
The release of this timetable marks APGA as one of the first major parties to formalize its path toward the 2027 elections. By setting these financial and chronological benchmarks, the party leadership stated they aim to ensure a transparent and organized selection process that attracts serious and committed candidates.
Do you think the high cost of nomination forms helps ensure only "serious" candidates run, or does it unfairly prevent competent but less wealthy individuals from seeking office? Share your comments below!
