ADC Open to Dialogue with Tinubu, Condemns Defection of South-East Governors to APC

The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ralph Nwodo, has stated that while the party is ready to engage in constructive dialogue with President Bola Tinubu’s administration, it remains firmly opposed to the defection of South-East governors to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaking on the current political climate, Nwodo emphasized that the ADC is committed to the development of Nigeria and is willing to support policies that benefit the masses. However, he maintained that the party would continue to play its role as a vibrant opposition by holding the government accountable whenever it falls short of its promises.

Nwodo specifically addressed the trend of South-East governors leaving their original parties to join the APC, stating that there is "no justification" for such moves. He argued that these defections often do not reflect the political will or the interests of the people in the region, but are rather calculated moves for personal political survival. According to the ADC chairman, the South-East has historically sought a different political direction, and the sudden shift by its leaders toward the ruling party creates a disconnect between the governors and the electorate they represent.

What is your take on the ADC's stance? Do you believe South-East governors are justified in joining the APC for "regional interest"? Let us know in the comments.
